The First Generation Barricade

The Barricade we’ve seen on the Transformers movie last year was a Saleen S281 Mustang Police patrol car, which is absolutely radical! However, during the first generation Transformers, Barricade surfaced as a different character in the animated version. Barricade first appeared in 1990 as a new member of a Decepticon race track patrol team. Before getting the Sallen Mustang with solid nerf bars as his vehicle mode in the 2007 movie, he was a Formula One racing car in the first generation.

This smart and fast-chasing Decepticon learned how to take care of himself while blasting along with Cybertron's most nasty racing groups. Being vicious has been his character that brought the same wicked boundary his position as the Race Track Patrol’s leader. His groupmates are familiar that the slightest error will result in a heartless killing in front of the others. His troops learned to strive to meet his demanding standards. His uncompromising, obnoxious leadership approach doesn't do much for self-esteem, however, Barricade thinks off the best solution for the sake of his team.

Barricade was formerly named "Runner". He was created as part of a cross-factional testing in which new Micromasters were permitted to work as neutrals, and to pick their own connections.

Transformer Planet

Cybertron from the original cartoon series Cybertron. The planet in which the Transformers originated. The "Steel Planet".

Iacon Hub City is its capital, which the Autobots call home. The Decepticons are based in Kaon. Other places of interest are Perihex, Antihex, Uraya, Polyhex, Vos, Tarn, Nova Cronum and crystal city (destroyed).

In the Beast Wars saga, Cybertropolis replaced Iacon as the Autobots' base.

In the original cartoons, Cybertron is a small planet used by the Quintessons to make their assembly line of workers and soldiers. In time, the workers and soldiers rebelled, with the workers becoming the Autobots and the soldiers, the Decepticons.

Cybertron is metallic on the surface, but go deeper and you'll find the rocky interior. Its gravity is light enough for humans to walk with ease and Cybertron posesses an atmosphere.

The planet also plays to an assortment of fauna, namely, ant-droids, bolt-bats, cyber-ducks, dynametal ducks, electro-toads, glitch-mice, guineapigatrons, helio-hamsters, hydro-weasels, photovoltaic pussycats, retro-rats, robo-rats, sheepacrons, titanium moose-bots, turbo-foxes, zap-mice and robotopossums.

Mirage: now you see him, now you don't

Mirage is an Autobot disguised as an Ligier JS11-Ford Formula 1 racer.

In Cybertron, he was one of he planet's elite upper class, prefering to hunt turbofoxes instead of fighting. He became an Autobot when conflict became unavoidable, though he is often unsure of what his motivations are. That leaves him an object of distrust with his fellow Autobots.

Mirage posseses superior hand-to-hand fighting skills, and is a skilled sharpshooter. His weapon of choice is a rifle with explosive armor-piercing darts. But his most important weapon is his shoulder-mounted electro-disruptor, which bends electrons that make Mirage invisible. This makes him a valuable spy for the Autobots.

Of transforming Xbox 360's, battle of Los Angeles, and others

I know all of you fans of the Transformers out there are DYING to get at least a sneakpeek or some tidbits of info about the movie. Browsing through the Net was an enjoyable ride getting to know different sites (official and unofficial) that feature topics relevant to the showing of Transformers the Movie next summer. Well, some may be accurate. But some may be rumor-mongerers riding on the bandwagon of the Transformers hype, I think.

For example, there is this site that tells that the popular Xbox 360 is featured and could transform itself. Or there are some spy footages from the movie obtained while shooting in  Los Angeles. There are also reports about an interview with director Michael Bay on what is to be expected in the upcoming film.

The reports are rather intriguing, with lots of stuffs deviating from the animation version. The Movie Blog got a report from Ain't It Cool that it got an interview gig with Bay divulging some changes for the upcoming film. Like all of the transformers won't be as "blocky," so they are redesigned. The original voice actors in the animated program will be screened but not necessarily cast. He wanted to make sure that their voices won't age that much. Also, exciting scenarios are in the offing like: the fight between and Optimus Prime and Megatron in downtown Los Angeles; a vivid picture of Cybertron; action; and, much, much more action!

There are also reports on modifications with the characters themselves, morphing from one original toy to another in the movie. Bumblebee, a classic Volkswagen Beetle, is reportedly being conditioned to be a Camaro. Decepticon leader Megatron, who takes the form of a gun, takes an alternate form of a ship. Also, Soundwave the boombox, will morph into CD-slinging Soundbyte.

At Youtube, there are some spy footages that leaked while shooting the movie in Los Angeles. Member "ValleyKnight" uploaded 2 clips with the first video catching an ongoing movie shoot.

There will be more to come as soon as I get my bearings together. My work week was HELL, literally. This brain has been flooded by an endless flow of information overload. Now, I am having a hard time thinking what part of work I have to attend to.

If you got the touch, you got the power. 'Til the next posting, Transformaniacs!

Prowl:military strategist extraordinaire

Prowl is an Autobot disguised as a police car in several Transformers generations.

Prowl, as he appears in Generation 1, is the Autobots'military strategist and tactician, which befits his Datsun Fairlady 280ZX police car persona. His immense logic center gives him the ability to analyze combat situations quickly and give out the most optimal copurse of action.

Prowl possesses endless patience, which Optimus Prime utilizes the most. If given a task, Prowl will do it to the best of his abilities. Aside from these, Prowl is a quiet, competent and loyal Autobot.

In robot mode, Prowl carries a semiautomatic rifle with pellets filled with corrosive acid. A pair of cannons which fire wire-guided incendiary missiles is mounted on his shoulders.

Sixshot among the best ever?

I've been thinking about it lately, and if I had to pick just one bot to duke it out for me, I'd probably go with Sixshot. With the ability to transform into any one of six alternate modes (seven if you count his secret mode in Headmasters), he's an army all by himself. And a very ruthless one at that.

He made just one appearance in G1, but boy, what an appearance that was. Galvatron sends Sixshot out to deal with the Aerialbots and he takes them out like flies in the sky! Even more impressive is the fact that Sixshot kills off Ultra Magnus in Headmasters. That's a tough bunch of Autobots he takes out.

Too bad he's a Decepticon. Sixshot would be so cool if he wasn't so bad. Then again, maybe he was so cool because he was so bad. Like the renegade samurai you can't help but respect still. An assassin who basks in the glory of battle, of chaos and killing, yet despite the ruthlessness maintains a high sense of honor and respect for his foes. A true warrior with a twisted allegiance. Undeniably deadly nonetheless. Does that put him among the best?

I think it does.

Who are tops on your lists?
